I do have difficulties to understand how my King/Bendix NAV/COM/DME may/will work with my Skyview w/ Dynon GPS.

1. When is data required from the external NAV/COM/DME?

2. For which applications is data required from the external NAV/COM/DMW?

3. Autopilot: I try to fly a flight plan. Will I be able to fly to/from VORs selected by my NAV?

4. To use the old NAV/COM/DME I have would I need an ARINC conveter?

5. I will need a Mode S transponder in future and have a Bendix Mode C. How can I upgrade utilizing the Skyview?

Many thanks, Chris

Unfortunately, none of the older King Nav/Coms will work with SkyView (or any other of our products). Devices need to support either NMEA,Aviation format, or SL30 format serial data, or ARINC-429 GPS or NAV data, to work with our products.

The HS34 for the D10/D100 series DID have electronics in it that was supposed to let it work with a broad set of older radios. However, after customers started interfacing them with some non-Garmin radios (they work fine with the SL30 and Garmin 430 output, which were our in-house test-beds), we discovered that not all radios have analog outputs that behave the same.

The net effect is that the analog interface is not supported on the HS34 (and customers that want a refund based on fact are welcome to it), and there isn't any planned support for analog NAV radios in SkyView.
