Hi, I've been told not to install the oil pressure sensor (101693.000) on the engine. That I should mount it to the firewall. I'm using the Viking engine, is putting the sensor on the engine causing them to go bad?
As for the oil temp sensor (100409-000) I've been told to use the copper ring #an900-10. The ring doesn't fit my sensor plus the sensor lacks over 1/4" of the sensor seating to the engine. Does any of you use a copper ring between the sensor and engine. Also when tightening the oil temp sensor into the engine, do I need to keep both treads clean or can I apply thread tape?
Thanks for any help

Generically, mounting pressure sensors on engines is a bad idea. Vibration kills them.

That crush washer is for the Lycoming 5/8" oil temperature sensor. I don't have a size handy for the 1/8" sensor, but I'll see if our engineers do.

Thanks for the help. I'm trying to find the high pressure hose that I can use for the oil pressure sensor. It's 1/8 pipe thread. So far no luck. Also I need to ground the pressure sensor. How should I do that?
Does the temp sensor need a good ground to the engine?
Thanks

Most installs do not go straight from hose to pressure sender. Generally you use AN fittings and AN hose to go from the engine to a sensor manifold such as this:

However, there is hardware to do what you may want, and an example is in this thread:

Is it ok to use the PTFE paste on the threads of the temp sensers (100409-000)?

If you are asking if the sensors themselves have any issue with the paste, it's fine, they will still get the ground they need. You need to evaluate if you would use the paste on that kind of line (oil, fuel, etc) individually when installing a sensor. The sensor is no different than any other fitting in that particular system.
