I am installing a new FlightDEK-D-180 (firmware version is 1.08) The unit seems to be working fine, but the backup battery isn't charging.

The unit initially worked off the battery for a short time when it arrived.

I checked the voltage at the Dynon output battery terminals and it's zero.

I have connected both the red (pin 1) and the yellow (pin 2) power; and ground pins 3 and 16 on the DB25 EFIS connector.

Is there a 'battery installed' setup I'm missing, or a fuse that is field replaceable?

Thanks in advance,
Jeff

Your battery is more than likely discharged but not damaged or completely dead (though it appears to be). Our older firmware versions (including 1.08) can have trouble starting the charging process on deeply discharged batteries. After you update to version 4.0 off our site, you should see the battery start to charge back up again. Note that one you see the battery voltage come to live, it will take 10+ hours to fully recharge it to full (over 16V as read on the "I" line of the EFIS voltmeter)

I am having a similar problem with my back-up battery. The plane has yet to fly so the battery is new and has hardly been used. It worked at first, but I recently noticed it would not charge, or wouldn't charge enough to function. I have firmware version 4.0. My main battery is fully charged (reading 13.1 V). I have left power on to the Dynon for 24+ hours and the voltage of the internal battery (I) is "stuck" at 10.3, and won't power the unit at all on it's own. Any ideas? Thx. Garth

That could be a faulty battery (or possibly something in the EFIS). Try Fully cycling power to the unit by unplugging the internal battery, master power, and keep alive. Then hook everything back up. See if that fixes it. If it doesn't, give us a call at 425-402-0433 for further assistance.
