I think the issue was lost Comms with memory stick? so I rebooted and started again now seems to be loading ok. Hopefully crisis averted.

Gave up on the 10'' as it stopped again. loaded the new software updates on my 7''. Seems to have loaded be it many hours. Going back to retry 10 one more time. Speaking of which it takes hours to do it.

Not me :) tried it after our discussion today & while it may have taken 15 + ? mins all went well. Am impressed with the faster boot up.

Forgot to mention - you could have tried transferring the download to another 'stick' as some have had issues in the past with different makes of sticks.

Tried to install the new North American high res database and it took 15 minutes to go 9%. I had to shut it down, I couldn't hang around for another hour to see it finish. Plus when downloading from the web it hung at 99% for about 15 minutes. Maybe corrupt file? corrupt thumb drive?

We don't recommend loading multiple displays at a time.

I can't speak to the 99% "hanging". If you saved directly to your thumb drive from the web, that may have been the browser copying it to the stick after temporarily downloading to the computer. SkyView checks the database for validity before it loads, so you can't load a bad database if it's corrupt. Most of them are between 2.2 and 2.5 gigs though. If the file on your stick is in that ballpark, it's likely all there.

Guys, I am still not 100% sure what was happening as the update to 11 on the 10in screen went well. The Low res and very low res also no issue the problem started with the South Pacific update. it went through the verification process which did take a while then started to load the file. This is where it locked up on multiple occasions requiring me to restart. After what seemed an eternity I gave up and proceeded with loading the files onto the 7in screen. All files loaded OK without interruption, however it did take a few hours to do it. I then went back to the 10in and loaded the South Pacific which went through uninterrupted. I spent all day in the hanger getting the process to be complete. Anyway all is now loaded and ready to test. Cheers Hugh

As mentioned before, my updates went perfectly as expected. Then did the same with # 2 screen, that worked too. South Pacific database loaded in 15+ mins in both cases :)

BTW I left the database update as the last job after first updating to vers 11 then low Res followed by very Low Res & the the big file update as stated.

Yes it is a bit strange jake as I did the 11 update first then the sth pacific last anyway whatever the issue was I tested the system today and everything seems to be working ok. I like the faster boot up. I will catch up with you and chat about our ADSB options as I guess this will be the next equipment upgrade for me.
