No HSI from GPS after 5.1.1 update

I updated a friend's D-100 last night to 5.1.1 and today he called me to say that HSI display isn't there anymore, only the DG. The HSI was working fine with the old firmware.

Does upgrading the firmware reset the configs such that you normally have to go back into the setup menus and reconfigure the HSI settings for display, data source, etc?

If so, that'll be an easy fix. I'm hoping I didn't pull loose or break the serial data wire to his GPS 496 because it's a pain to crawl under the panel of his RV-4

The settings should persist, but it's of course easier to check the settings on the EFIS before going at the wiring, so start there.

This turned out to be a classic case of the GPS data transfer Advanced NMEA set to "Fast", when it needs to be set to "Normal". After resetting GPS setup to "Normal", the issue was resolved.
