No wind indication

I just got my 496 hooked up to my Dynon D-10A and everything works great, ALMOST. I get everything on the HSI from the GPS but I don't get any wind indication (the wind arrow with speed in the lower right)
First I don't have a Dynon OAT probe hooked up. I do however enter the OAT manually from my EI probe and I get TAS indications.
My question is, is there something in the setup software that I have to toggle on to get the wind indication on the attitude indicator, or will it even display without the dynon OAT probe?

I, too, have no wind indicator on my display and have it wired to a Garmin 396. Now, admittedly, I might not have it selected in the menu at this time -- I thought I did. I'll have to double-check that when I go to the hangar.

However, in place of the wind indicator, the readout in the lower right-hand corner is the baro setting and "134*" (degrees). It never changes. 134 degrees.

Any clue what that readout is for?

134 is your heading bug. You can turn this off by turning off your heading bug if you never use it.

D'oh.

Thanks. Since I don't know anything about how to properly use heading bugs, I'll just turn it off. Thanks for telling me what it was.

I'll check to see if I have the wind indicator turned on. If I do and still don't have any indicator, I'll be back ...

The wind indicator is turned ON. However, there's no little arrow on the display. I have a Dynon AOA pitot tube hooked up and the D100 is wired to a Garmin GPSMap 396. Everything else seems to work just dandy.

What else should I check?

Do you have the OAT sensor and have it selected properly?

Yes, I have the OAT sensor and I get proper readings from it. What do you mean, "selected properly"? I have the OAT info selected in the upper left part of the screen, next to the altitude tape.

If you're getting a correct OAT display (and the OAT doesn't have a box around it, which means it's not coming from the probe but from a manual setting), then you probably aren't receiving GPS ground track. When you bring up the HSI, is there a magenta track triangle close to your current heading?

FINALLY figured it out!

After e-mail exchanges and phone calls, it was discovered that my Dynon units were made long enough ago that they were wired a little differently than current units. Consequently, the GPS was NOT connected to the Dynon units at all! The serial output WAS connected to the autopilot, so it tracked just fine.

A single wire from the autopilot to the EMS solved the problem. Initially, it appeared as if nothing had changed. Still no winds aloft or HSI info on the EFIS.

However, yesterday it was finally NOT snowing, and I was able to go flying. As soon as I fired it up, I noted the display looked a bit different. Sure enough, I now have a functioning HSI on my EFIS, as well as a winds aloft indicator!

Took awhile, but everything appears to be working on my Dynon units now. That's a sign that it's time to swap them out for new Skyview units! ;D
