Noise and the SV-INTERCOM-2S wiring

With the Skyview and Dynon radio/intercom, I've got a constant higher-pitched tone; sounds about like a car horn.  It can be heard immediately when powering up the plane with the master switch and is totally uneffected by any volume control.  It's exactly the same in the pilot and co-pilot's headset (any type headset).

I've got shielded three conductor wire going to the headset jack (for each).  Left and right are soldered to the jack's ring and tip, and the third (LO) to the barrel.  The shield is left unterminated at the jack.  At the intercom, the way I read the wiring diagram, LO is connected to the shield, and all shields are connected to PIN #1.

I've tried lots of tricks with resistors and filters with no success.  When I cut LO, where it's no longer connected to the shield and ground at the intercom, the noise completely disappears, and the intercom/radio work great, except the sound isn't as full or loud, and a tad scratchy when I talk.  It's still much preferable to having the barrel LO connected to the shield/ground, though.

I feel like I followed the wiring schematic to a tee.  Do I have it right that the LO wire and all shields go to intercom ground pin #1?  And if so, where might have gone wrong to cause this?

How are the mic connections wired? That would be helpful to know since the noise could be could be getting in through that path. Also, make sure that you have insulated the jacks on your panel. Having them connected to ships ground through the panel can cause all sorts of ground loops and nasty sounds.
