not seeing ADS-B traffic

I have an integrated SV system in my RV-7A with HDX, ADS-B, XPDR-261, and RAMI AV-22 antennas for ADS-B and transponder. I see traffic near Santa Fe (where I'm based) and farther south, but don't see it much north of there or east of ABQ behind Sandia mountain. I assumed this was because I was our of range of the ground station near ABQ (they are sparse in the mountain West), but I understand I should be able to see other aircraft that have ADS-B out even if that's the case. Also, I'm seeing traffic wherever I am when I fly a G1000-equipped aircraft with ADS-B in/out.
