Not sure if it's a bug...

Near the beginning of a two-hour flight this weekend, I noticed that for a brief second or two, a couple of times in close succession, all the info fields on my map page went blank (things like ETA, ETE, GS, WPT, etc.). All of this data was being fed from a GNS-430W via the ARINC box, while on a flight plan with the 430 driving everything.

It only happened a couple of times, and was *very* brief. I was surprised I even saw it.

Since it was at the beginning of the flight which lasted 2+ hours, and I didn't get a diagnostic file dump, not sure if a regular log file will help, but I can send one if Dynon wants.

Might have just been a very temporary glitch, but one I wouldn't want to have the system repeat while IFR, for example.

Oh, and the 430 showed no untoward behavior when this happened (I glanced at it quickly, and everything looked normal).

I have the same setup and had the same issue but I noticed my G430W had lost RAIM so it wasnt sending data to SkyView. I changed my primary position source (Pos1) to the Dynon 250 with the G430W as Pos2 and it has never happened since. Not sure if this was coincidence.

The SV-GPS-2020 *is* my POS1 source (and prior to that, the SV-GPS-250 was), so I didn't lose mapping...just the data fields displayed around the sides of the map, with info coming from the 430W. I received no warnings of RAIM loss on the 430W...indeed, it was happily plugging along showing GS, HDG, etc., just fine. They just disappeared for a few seconds from the SV.

You can see where the Course went away for a bit, returned, then the Course, CDI Scale and CDI Deflection all went away (along with a bunch of other stuff that isn't logged, like ETA, ETE, Next WPT, etc.).

As noted...the GNS-430W did *not* stop functioning or display any warnings or errors during these brief outages...

Unfortunately, unless you could put a monitor on the output of the 430W's ARINC-429, there's no way to tell whether the 430W wasn't transmitting that data, or SkyView wasn't receiving that data.

Yeah, that's kind of what I figured...but thought I'd toss it out there, so if anyone else sees it, then the collective intelligence of the intertubes might be able to ferret out a communications problem between the SV and the ARINC box or the ARINC box and the 430W.

Of course, now that I said that, I'll probably never see it again :)

I am seeing the same thing on my SV touch with Garmin 430W driving the flight plan. I notice the magenta needle (HSI display) and data fields blanks out for a second or two and re-appears as if nothing happened. I have seen this since I installed in 2014. On today's flight (6hrs flying time) i saw about 3 drop-outs in quick succession then the A/P dropped out of GPSS mode into track mode. I am running 14.1 firmware. I thought this was not suppose to happen with version 14.1. This is the first time it ever autonomously changed the autopilot mode. But I do not use the A/P 100% of the time. Iam worried that if this happens while on an approach and how to recover from this. Is this the bug? or is this a hardware problem? No indication of loss of ARINC 429 from any message either on the S/V or GNS430W.

Got the same glitch a couple of times yesterday in flight, and grabbed a diagnostic file right away, if that would be of any help?

It may. What version of SkyView software are you running? There was a fix in 14.1 that should improve a couple of ARINC-related communications behaviors.

I got the same glitch on a flight from Dayton, OH to Charlotte, NC today. HSI and map data fields blanked out for a few seconds then came back as if nothing happened. I am running v14.2.1, G430W on 2ea 7" non touch displays, no autopilot with ARINC-429 module.

I hae the diagnostic file...do you want me to upload it? What's the link to the diagnostic upload page?
