I just uploaded from 5.0 to 5.1.1 . Before the upload the OAT was showing 35C, about right for the day. After the upload the OAT was 220C and a warning was showing that the OAT was not useable. I haven't flown the airplane but the rest of the display looked ok. Any ideas?

Hmmmm, sounds familiar!

You need to reonfigure perhaps?

If so and your OAT is on an input from the HS34 you may have the bug I found. The fix is to follow the instructions DS put up on this thread. Might be your solution.

Thanks David; I don't have any devices on the smart bus, no HS-34. But you're reminding me to check the configuration of the OAT itself. Maybe after the upload it set to a type 1 vs a type 2. Lemme check and thanks for the suggestions!

Which EFIS product are we talking about? And which OAT (connected to the EDC or an EMS GP input?)

Sorry - I have the EFIS-10A with the remote compass EDC-10A. The OAT is the three-wire sensor type 2, p/n 100433-001 connected to the EDC-10A. The system has been installed for three years and has been upgraded at least twice. I think this may be the third upgrade. I now have a vague recollection of something similar happening during a software upgrade a couple of years ago. I'll check the configuration tomorrow and see if type 2 is configured. And anything else you might recommend. Thanks.

That's the main thing to check. What firmware version were you coming from? Does the heading tape seem to work normally? I'd also look into whether or not the EDC-D10A is still connected, and whether its on the same version as the EFIS (you'll need to check the firmware version with a computer to figure that part out).

I hate when this happens... I powered up the airplane and EFIS this afternoon. The OAT showed accurately at 42C. (Yes its hot this summer.) No idea why it works today and didn't work 2 days ago. Plane was not used since I discovered the problem.

For the record, my previous upgrade was 4.2 in August/08.

The answers for Dynon Support are: The heading tape works normally. The EDC-D10A is connected. The OAT sensor was configured as type 2.

I really appreciate the ideas so far and at this point I'll stop bothering you all. If the problem comes back I'll probably be back and let you know. Safe flying everybody.
