Page 34 of the Installation Guide lists the remote compass module as a requirement for installing the OAT probe. I was not aware of this at the time of ordering. I do not recall seeing this requirement in any of the website material. When I read the wiring instructions it appears that the OAT probe is connected to pins 2 and 7 of the female D9 connector which the remote compass uses. So, it occurs to me that I may NOT need the compass module....just the D9 connector. Please advise on this.

The processing of the OAT signal is actually done by the remote compass module, and The OAT input pins on the EDC D9 connector are different ones that those that connect the EFIS to the EDC. Basically, the short answer is that you do need the remote compass in order to use the EFIS OAT.

If you would like to return the OAT for a refund, please call us at 425-402-0433. Alternatively, the remote compass module can be added to your setup for $100.
