OAT wires: are they special cables?

Hi again. I have a few questions since I am completing my plane. I thaught it could be better opening separate posts rather than asking everything in the same one.

Is there any particular reason for stating (manual, last revision, page 5-5) that "It is acceptable to extend or reduce the wire lenght if necessary. Reduce the wire length by cutting out the desired length from the middle of the wires and splicing together the remaining ends"?

1) I mean: I installed wires from ADAHRS to middle fuselage (couldn't reach the wing root location). I need to add pieces of "normal" cable (MIL spec. ones: 22 AWG) from there to wing root area, since the supplied ones were too short to reach that position (because I splitted them in two halves time ago). But...after that, the wire lenght from the OAT probe to the wing root location (wing side) will not be the same of the wire lenght from the ADAHRS to the middle fuselage.

2) Short question: are OAT wires normal wires?

Thanks

I do believe they are what you call normal wire (aircraft quality) . What Dynon is implying about cutting out a section from the middle is that most people installing the OAT probes do not have the pins or the proper connector crimpers to install new pins on the ends and a splice using the original ends takes care of the problem. If you have the tools and pins I'm sure you will be fine replacing the pins on your new piece of wire.

Yes, I have all the tools, of course.
So, I will merge them where convenient.
Thanks.
