OAT without compass module?

Greetings,

I'm probably going to order a D10A Monday. I believe the internal magnetometer would likely work fine in my RV-3 panel, but I really want the functionality that you get with an OAT.

Is there any way to have OAT info, without the remote compass module?

If not, is this something that is likely to be available in the future?

If I get a remote compass module, can I use it for OAT function, but have the D10A ignore the compass info, and use it's own internal magnetometer instead?

Thanks,
Rusty

Hi Russell,

Have a look at this thread and see if it answers your questions regarding using the compass without the EDC. The short answer is that it's not possible with our current set of hardware.

As for having the EFIS-D10A ignore the compass, our software is not set up to do that. The EDC-D10A data is trusted as more reliable and therefore takes precedence over the EFIS-D10A internal compass data.

Thanks for the confirmation. I went ahead and ordered the EDC, so now I have the joy of installing it to look forward to :)

Cheers,
