Occasional RPM Crazyness

I have 100 hours on my engine and EMS.  At about 50 hours, I occasionally would have a jumping RPM reading - always jumping to the high side.  I was using the output from my Dual Lightspeed boxes and read that the voltage was sometimes too low for the EMS.  I switched to a tack drive unit yet the problem still occasionally occurs.  There is no particular observable pattern nor occurrence that starts its impression of a Mexican Jumping Bean.  So that is two strikes against the EMS for me and leads me to believe that the problem lies with the EMS.  Comments please.

Were you getting the high spikes with the lightspeed outputs as well? Or would that drop out and go low? What kind of tach drive output do you have it hooked up to? And which inputs are you using on the EMS (assuming this is SkyView)?

The Lightspeed caused high spikes also - never low spikes and never drop out. The unit is the D10. The tach output is a UMA sending unit.

Just a thought here - do you have a resistor in the tach wire ? 30K Ohm ? If so did you try say a 50 K Ohm instead ?
