The oil temp guage on our D120 is giving very eratic readings which I think is a loose connection at the sender end. I will redo that and see if it gets back to normal.
What does happens though is that at times a central section of the temp guage colour arc has no color displayed it has yellow below and a green and red arc above but just a blank outline between. Do you have any ideas it seems to happen if we are operating at about 80 degrees.

Thnks in advance

You must have a rotax. The black arc section exists when you have not yet gotten the engine warm enough in that flight. Read your roatx operating manual and you will see that you need to get it above X degrees once per flight. This black section turns green once you have done that.

What kind of airplane is this in?
