Oil Temp Sender

When I ordered the Dynon oil temp sender from Aircraft Spruce for use with my SkyView, the only one they had available to order was the one with the 5/8-18 UNF thread. I have a 1/2 NPT port into which to place this sender. I ordered a 5/-18 UNF to 1/2 NPT adapter from Summit Racing but my problem is that threads on Dynon oil temp sender bottom out in the adapter before the sender can securely seat on top of the adapter and then it leaks oil. I realize from your FAQs I need the appropriate ACS copper gasket, but I suspect that the sender is still sitting too high for the gasket. Can you recommend the right adapter for this or can I substitute the sender with an automotive 0--250F oil temp sender that already has the 1/2 NPT thread? Would I have compatibility issues? Thanks.

We don't have a lot of experiencing physically adapting the probes in-house, so unfortunately we aren't able to offer solid advice on that.

Another sensor probably wouldn't work, since we build characterizations that are unique to individual sensors, and even the two we sell are different (and they're from the same manufacturer, I believe). In case you're able to test a candidate sensor, here are a few temperature/resistance test points:

100409-001
50F 1500 ohms
70F 851 ohms
212F 53 ohms

100409-000
50F 1516 ohms
77F 778 ohms
212F 65 ohms
