Oil temperature transducer install

Hi - I was told there's a special method for installing the oil temp transducer, the Dynon manual obviously says "follow engine manufacturer's instructions"...

Where would you typically find these instructions? I have a Lycoming IO-540-A4D5 and I have the manual but I can't find any instruction. Does anyone know the process and can post it here?

Other than torquing correctly into the crush washer, I can't imagine what else a threaded joint might want (except anti-seize or thread locker). This talk of a special method has me confused.

"Special Method" in the aviation world pretty much means to torque it correctly and/or safety-wire it, instead of using the "Armstrong" method preferred by most shade-tree mechanics on automobiles.

If you've been turning wrenches long enough in your life to develop a calibrated arm, you can ignore both methods and proceed to proceed - but most folks need a torque wrench...

Thanks guys - the engine manual doesnt offer a torque value, it says a 180 degree rotation once the crush washer contacts the thread (5/8-28).
Maybe that is a "special procedure"?? :D

Thanks guys.
