On-Ground Barometer Sync

No doubt Dynon has a good reason why this can't /shouldn't be done, but: Why can't I synchronize my Barometer setting on the ground at my home airport (KSTS)?  The Barometer sych feature works great in the air, but it will not sync when I am on the ground at my controlled / ATIS equipped airport.  Is this due to an absense of line-of-sight ADS-B service while I'm on the ground?

This should work just fine. If it has ADS-B data, it should use that, if it doesn't, it should use the GPS altitude. If you're asking why it isn't using ADS-B when on the ground, you do need a ADS-B signal to be able to get the baro setting, so you likely don't have this when on the ground. ADS-B doesn't guarantee ground coverage at all airports.

It does cache ADS-B data, so if you try it one time after you land, you'll see it uses that because you picked up the METAR while in flight and it still has it after you land and can use this.

To use GPS, all it needs is a GPS lock (can't be in the hangar), and to think you are on the ground (no airspeed).

What message are you getting in the BARO window when you ask for a sync on the ground?

I do get the GPS altitude on the ground, but it's barometer / altitude indication does not match the pressure barometer value / altitude given by the local ATIS -- so I have to manually input the current ATIS barometer value via the overworked lower right hand corner twirlly knob.  Would be a lot easier if the barometer was synched on the ground with the ATIS value.  I suspect that when I am on the ground at KSTS, my ADS-B does not get reception, so my SV goes with the GPS input. 

Still lovin' my SV!  And waiting for word on the Touch Screen conversion (before I wear out the overworked lower right hand corner twirlly knob)....
