P-lead and Tach question

I've read the directions 100 times and I'm still confused. How does the connection for the EMS to the P-lead work?
EMS-Resistor-P lead on Magneto?
or
EMS-Resistor-Starter switch?

Please help! Pictures would be even better!

How/where is everyone connecting the resistor?

The P-lead terminates at the starter switch. The switch can then ground the P-lead
The resistor is attached directly to the same switch terminal as the P-lead. The other end of the resistor connects to a wire that goes to the EMS. That way, if the wire to the EMS shorts to gound, the resistor prevents it from shorting the P-lead and stopping the engine.
