Hello. I added second hdx and ems. I have lycoming 6 cylinder. I think default config file is for 4 cylinder and consequently my tach readings are high. Is there a default calibration number for a six cyl, using p-lead pickoff. Was wondering what formula used to convert plead magneto pulse to rpm. Guessing that for each magneto there would be 6 pulse per revolution but ive been breathing fuel tank calibration fumes so not sure how to make sense of plead pulses.

Is your EMS set to receive 1 pulse per revolution or 2 pulses per revolution from the Mags? If set wrong then your tach will read wrong.

From the install manual -
Tachometer pulses/revolution are set in the Engine Information Wizard – SETUP
MENU > HARDWARE CALIBRATION > EMS CALIBRATION > TACHOMETER
CALIBRATION.

Update: the pulse/rpm setting of 1.5 resulted in accurate tach indication. 1.0 works for 4 cylinders and 1.5 works for my 6 cylinders. Obviously, 6/4 = 1.5
