On two subsequent flights I received a "position source 2 failure" error message. I looked up what the error is on this forum and it should be my GPS 250 and I wasn't too worried because it is supposed to be a "back up"; I have both the GPS 250 and the GPS 2020 installed. When I went out to go flying again, I got a big red X in place of the moving map. I started troubleshooting and I think my GPS 2020 has gone south which is weird because I was getting the position source 2 failure error message and the GPS 2020 is configured as position source 1. I have the GPS 250 installed on serial port 5 and configured as Position 2 and the GPS 2020 installed on serial port 4 configured as Position 1 per the installation instructions. Looking at the Rx data in the setup menu the GPS 250 is receiving satellite data but the GPS 2020 is not. I have a dual 10" SkyView classic installation and rang out all of the wires to both displays for the GPS 2020 and they all are good. I checked the voltage going to the GPS 2020 and it is 8 volts, is that normal? I couldn't find the serial port voltage in the installation manual and it didn't occur to me at the time to check what the voltage going to the GPS 250 was. If the GPS 250 is indeed a backup why am I getting the big red X and not a map and position source 1 error? I didn't try swapping the position of the two GPSs. Any help is appreciated, Dynon is closed until after the New Year and I'm grounded until I can get it fixed.
