problem with D180

I bought a new 2009 Remos GX in August that has a Dynon D-180 EFIS. The magnetic heading tape at the top of the display is completely unusable. It is off by 60 degrees or more most of the time. I have been through the calibration process several times and it seems to work for a few minutes after calibration but then back to its old habits. Remos says that it is a software issue with version 5.1.1 software. This is frustrating to say the least. Any help appreciated.

Hi Moonstruck,

We do have a bug in 5.1.1 that will be fixed in the next couple to few weeks with 5.2. We'll be testing it soon - if you'd like to get a copy of the beta software (remember that beta means things can break - that's why it's beta and not full release), email support at dynonavionics dot com. Also, because you have an LSA, you may need permission from your manufacturer to install new software in your unit.

There is also another workaround that involves installing older firmware on your unit (5.0, which doesn't have some autopilot features), but, since we're close the actual fix, we'd probably adivise not going that route at this point. Give support a call at 425-402-0433 if you want to chat about the different options.

Thanks for your patience.
