Problems updating D100, D120 and EDC 10A

Trying to update from 2.14.16 to 4.0.0. Connecting my laptop thru a USB to serial adapter. After downloading Dynon Product Support 4.0.1, when I click on "detect version" I get message "can't find #1 chip" and the instrument screen goes yellow, buttons don't function. Same experience with either the D100 or the D120. Returned to earlier version by restoring my laptop to a date prior to the download of 4.0, then clicking on "detect version" which takes me back to the 2.14.16 version after showing seriel number and version. Since my computer seems to be able to connect with the earlier version I don't think the laptop is the problem or that my wiring is faulty.....but I don't really know what's going on. I have a Garmin 296 wired into the system, everything works properly on the earlier version. Help!

It's not clear what's going on here, but I'm wondering if your support program install is not quite right. Give us a call at 425-402-0433 if you haven't already.
