This is not Skyview specific, but i had an issue on my last flight that I think should be changed or is in error.

This is related to R-2508 "Complex" area. http://www.edwards.af.mil/r-2508.asp It is confusing as to how it is depicted within the Skyview database.

I did a quick trip to L06 Furnace Creek from the west. However, upon getting closer, i noticed Skyview depicted depicted this R-2508 "restricted area" unlimited to 20,000 ft? WHAT?!?!?! Did something change? The only app I had at the time, did not have sectional margin notes. I had no way to lookup more detailed information on the chart. I tried to contact Joshua Approach on various frequencies, but I was unable. This restricted area was not shown on the Ipad sectional chart, nor on the Skyview sectional.

Thus, I am wondering why is it depicted in Skyview this way? I found it rather confusing and worrisome for some time trying to figure this out in the air.

I think this R-2508 should be removed from the Skyview database. It is not on the sectional, after all, and I think is needlessly vague.

Thanks,
Jae

R-2508 is only in Class A airspace, so I would not expect to see it on a sectional. It does show in the IFR (high) chart on Foreflight, but not in the sectional or the IFR (low) chart.

That's exactly consistent with the way all airspace floors and ceilings are shown on that pop-up...the top number is the "ceiling" of the airspace, the bottom number is the "floor".

So it's not at all incorrect, nor should it be removed.

Hmm, it looks i read it wrong. IE, floor starting at 20,000 ft to unlimited above.

Well, at least for everyone else's benefit, be aware of this airspace if you ever encounter it. I dont recall seeing this the last time I flew this route, probably a few years ago.

You can also set up SkyView to hide airspaces that only exist above a certain altitude. So if you never go above 15K feet in your plane, you can set this to 15, and you'd never see this airspace because none of it is inside 0-15K.

You can also set up SkyView to only show airspaces within X of your current altitude.
