Random Disconnects

We installed two servos and an AP74 recently to go along with our 180 and HS34. All worked great for a while--then random disconnects. I flew for an hour today and I could engage the AP and get a disconnect 5 seconds later. Reengage, same thing, then reengage and perhaps work 10 minutes.

Would anything other than a grounding issue from the stick button to the AP74 cause this, or is that pretty much it? I really don't like the idea of having to unscrew all 40 pan screws in my RV9A again, but if grounding is the only way that could happen, I suppose I've got a short in one of the two stick wires somewhere.

Thoughts?

Are you seeing a disconnect, or are you getting a servo error (You'll see "ERR" instead of ALT, HDG etc.)

If it's the latter, you may have a network wiring issue.

And of course, even a momentary grounding of either of the disconnect wires from either servo would cause the AP to disconnect too. The AP74 itself doesn't have a disconnect, though both servos do.
