There is a post in 2009 about this topic, but no specifics, thus this new post.

I have a Ray Allen POS 12, which of course is designed to work with their own RP3 LED indicator. I, on the other hand, want to wire it to my FlightDEK 180. The wiring diagram from Ray Allen is not much help--in fact it is no help at all.

The POS has 3 wires, orange, green (signal return) and blue. I know the thing needs 5 volts. Which wire takes the 5 volts? Orange? Does it need a ground? And would that be Blue? And finally, which pin on my Dynon needs the input, which I assume is the green wire?

The green is flap position. The other two are +5V and GND. I don't believe it matters. Switch them if you get the wrong direction.

I connected the green wire to a general purpose input on the Skyview. It had to be calibrated. The FlightDEK 180 is probably similar.

Actually I used Aircraft Extras FPS (flap positioning system) and wired the RA-12 to it so the power and ground come from the FPS. See their web site. The use the RA-12.

Indeed, you can connect orange to the Dynon 5V excitation, green to the GP input of your choice, and blue to ground, then calibrate per our installation manual, and you should be all set.
