I have a Ray Allen electric elevator trim system and it is a little too coarse. I'd like each button push to initiate a smaller trim step. My friend says his Dynon has the ability to reduce the trim segment. I have a Dynon HDX but no AP Panel. I don't see where I can adjust the size of the trim segment. Can anyone help me out?

Trim speed and pulse rate adjustments are part of the SV-AP-PANEL configuration. I don't believe you have that ability without the panel, but I could be wrong.

Sounds like your Ray Allen trim motor is not connected to your SkyView system. If you want the adjustment feature you seek you'll need to install the SV-AP-PANEL and re-wire accordingly.

I know you don’t have an auto pilot, so auto trim wouldn’t be applicable, but I believe you can still adjust the sensitivity of your manual trim. The attached shows the settings I used in my RV-12iS; some apply to the auto trim. My sensitivity was too high too and these settings work well for me.

Trim speed can be varied based on indicated airspeed. I set my pitch trim to 40% speed when I exceed 120 knots indicated on my RV10. This can be done through a Vertical Power box or the auto pilot control head. There are also some after market speed controllers, but they will reduce trim speed all the time to whatever the rate is set for.
