Release 2.6 & won't boot with backup battery

I've installed release 2.6 on my 7" SkyView and still cannot get it to boot up with the backup battery attached .. I get the famous white pixelated screen. When I boot without the battery connected, no problem. Once booted up I can plug in the battery and see that it's showing charged. Do I have a defective battery?
