What ideas do you have for mounting of the remote compass in a tube and fabric airplane ??? The wings have already been covered and there are strobes out on the tips of each wing.
Thanks,
R.P.
Behind the passenger compartment back in the structure leading to the tail is ususally a good location. We're most worried about moving ferrous metal, and the tubes back there shouldnt' cause too much problem. Mouting it as far away as possible from the tubes is still a good idea though.
The strobes in the wingtips won't cause us any problems. Low current, high frequency devices like strobes are usually okay. Things like landing lights or nav lights can cause problems though.
I have an inspection cover about midway out on the wing. This would place the EDC about six feet away from the strobe/nav light combo. Wing ribs are all aluminum. Nav lights are rarely used, but when used (night time) I would really need the heading indicator to work. :-?
