remote compass location interference

Hello, just a quick question- I'd like to mounting a remote DC10a compass box next to a Crossbow AHRS unit in a RV7 behind the roll bar.on either side of the roll bar cross brace.
Will i have any electrical problems between the two units with a 6-8" spacing? This location is as close to the pitch and roll CLine as I can get it.

thks

Lee,

First off, you don't need to get the EDC near the pitch and roll centerline at all. It just needs to be in the same attitude as the EFIS in all directions. We suggest a wing in many cases, so the centerline is not an issue.

If you do go with that location, we don't expect any interference. The sensors we use are semiconductors and are not magnetic, and the ones in the Crossbow are most likely not magnetic either.

i'm getting ready to install dynon, and not sure re remote compass.  i would like to install behind baggage compartment, but also there is whelan power supply for the wing(s) strobes and the tail strobe already there.  Will that be a problem wrt em interference or other issues??  I thought i would also place the OAT probe underneath in the belly.  thanks.  lbb   lbgjb@ggnt.net

lbb,
That's a common location for the EDC (remote compass) and is also a common location for the strobe packs. The EDC generally works well back there, even with the strobe packs.

We reccomend the OAT be in the side of the aircraft in order to get it out of the exhaust stream (in front engined aircraft). Under the horizontal staibilzer works well.
