Response Time

Ok, that was odd - I hit the "enter" key and it posted :)

Right, here's the real question:

I went out to AircraftInstruments at Lanseria (South Africa) this morning and had a very careful look at the D10. I notice that theres about a quarter second lag time between real-time and the display. Under normal circumstances I wouldn't worry about this at all, but as I'm going to be using the D100 to drive an autopilot, I was wondering if this delay was only apparent in the display and if the serial output has a quicker response?

I really liked the D10, and as they didn't have the D100 available to play with I really hope that it's the all-singing and all-dancing device that every says it is :)

Thanks
Etienne

The EFIS-D10 does have a slower screen update rate than our newer generation, so what you're describing as lag might simply be the reduced frame rate of that earlier model. The serial output on all of our EFIS products, including the EFIS-D10, EFIS-D10A, and EFIS-D100 is 64 Hz. So the EFIS-D10 you saw was indeed updating its screen less times per second than it was reporting via the serial output.

In any case, realize that any EFIS type device will lag reality by some tiny amount due to processing, sensor performance, and other related factors, and that this will need to be accounted for if you are using our EFIS to create a device that can drive an autopilot.
