Currently wiring a D180 to a Rotax 912. I am wondering about using EGT probes on all cylinders instead of just two. Any downside besides the cost of additional probes and wires.

I was not going to us the MAP but today I received a Rotax Bulletin about monitoring manifold pressure. There are posts on needing a restrictor or filter in the line. What type trouble can I expect in the MAP setup?
Thanks,
John

On the MAP issue - that might be to damp visible fluctuations, but I don't think we've received any reports of this issue on Rotax engines. Search for "MAP fluctuations" here to get an idea of what people experience on Lycomings though.

You can monitor all 4 EGTs if you like. Rotax doesn't require that you monitor them at all, and you don't need them for leaning (which you can't do). We hear there's a difference betwwen the front and rear EGTs in most applications which is expected. Reducing this customer confusion (people WANT them to be equal, even though it's not neccesary) is one reason we only supply the 2 EGTs.
