Rotax tachometer presets

I am installing a 180 with a Rotax 912. When I go to the global settings and select Rotax as the engine type, the system configures the operating range for several of the monitored functions. On mine the tach is not correct. There are no numbers so I don't know exactly what they are but I have a narrow green band at the lower end of the rang and by the time I hit 4000 I getting a over rev warning. If I pick tachometer in the sensor settings it tells me it is using custom settings and cruise RPM is the only thing I can set.

I'm thinking it might be a problem between the seat and the buttons...

This is because your oil temp is not high enough. The Rotax manual specifies a lower redline until oil temp is high enough (hence why Rotax fliers often have to sit for a bit before they can take-off). Once your oil temp comes up, your redline will also increase.

If you don't want that kind of functionality, just choose "other" for engine type and set up the limits as you wish.

I should also note that we pulled the limits from the 912 manual. If you're using a 914, these limits may not apply. So think of it as a Rotax 912 preset.

That would explain why sometimes it was correct, and sometimes it wasn't. I figured there was a high probability of operator error....thanks!
