Good afternoon.  I am building a Van's RV-12, which comes with a 10" Skyview as standard equipment.  I'll have plenty of electrical capacity to power a second 10" screen (I am running a Jabiru engine versus the Rotax) so I installed an additional screen last night.

I ordered the 10" Skyview, the Dynon ethernet cable, and the Dynon interconnect cable (I think it was a 25-pin on each end).

Question:  to power and use the second screen, is it as simple as just running the 25-pin interconnect cable between the main unit and the secondary screen, and doing the same with the ethernet cable?  I know there will be configuration scenarios to consider at the time of power-up.  I'm just  wondering about the wiring between the two units before I button up the top of the instrument panel.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Gary,
There is a 9 pin cable that needs to run between the two screens. I think this is the "interconnect" that you mention. Hooking this and the Ethernet up is pretty easy and does allow SkyView to do most of what it does.

Unfortunately, it isn't just that easy. The D37 that comes with the SkyView screen and where power runs has a bunch of other wires. Some of these need to be connected in parallel with your first screen. The main ones are all the serial port wires, and the audio out wires. If you don't connect these, you will have some odd behaviors with your transponder and other devices.

The Configuration is actually very easy. When you connect the new screen to the old one it will just copy all the settings over automatically.

Thanks for the quick reply! Is there a reference diagram somewhere that will show me which wires to parallel with one another? I've got a fortune tied up in this panel, and sure don't want to smoke anything!

Thanks!

The installation manual is going to be the bible on this one. But functionally, it's any serial devices (both the tx and rx should be paralleled. Remembe that the SV-GPS-250 is a serial device), audio outputs, and contact 1 if you're using it for a level button. See the installation guide for more details on each of these functional elements.
