Hello:
I just upgraded to the latest firmware, 5.4.0 and I don't know what to do with the newly available settings for the pitch servo. Before I think there was just sensitivity setting but now there appears to be more settings. My first flight have shown that the altitude tends to oscillate +/- 200 feet after getting perturbed from turbulence and doesn't seem to recover. I didn't alter the out of the box settings but am wondering if anyone has setting that seem to work for the RVs?
Thanks,
Bill

Try this........ I set up an RV8 recently and it is working well, this is a guide and you may need to fiddle a bit. Also set your Vert Speed to about 700FPM

• Pitch Max Torque: 60%
• Pitch Sensitivity: 18-22
• Pitch Gain: 22-25
• Altitude Gain (ALT GAIN): 15-17
• Pull Rate: 10-15
• VSI Gain:15-17
• G Error Gain (G ERR GAIN): 10
• G Error Limit (G ERR LIM): 25

here are the general instructions that might help

• TORQUE: 100%
• SENSITIVITY: 10
• Pitch Gain (Kff_gain) : 20
• pull rate (az_gain): 10
• Altitude Gain: (Kalt_gain) 6
• VSI gain (Kvsi_gain): 15
• G error gain (az_err_gain): 10
• G error limit (az_err_limit) 25

• Here are the instructions.

• TORQUE:
• Adjust until servo does not slip during normal AP flight.

• SENSITIVITY:
• ADJUST TORQUE FIRST
• Increase gradually until airplane "twitches" when on altitude, then reduce by one or two. If servo slips, increase torque.

• PITCH GAIN: (Kff_gain)
• ADJUST SENSITIVITY FIRST
• After sensitivity is set, increase gradually if airplane does not settle on altitude.

• Altitude Gain: (Kalt_gain)
• ADJUST SENSITIVITY FIRST
• Increase gradually if airplane levels off too soon.
• Reduce gradually if airplane overshoots altitudes after climbs or descents.

• Pull Rate: (az_gain)
• ADJUST SENSITIVITY FIRST
• Controls the rate the AP will pull when changing vertical speed.

• VSI GAIN (Kvsi_gain)
• ADJUST SENSITIVTY FIRST
• ADJUST ALTITUDE GAIN FIRST
• Increase gradually if overshooting climbs, decrease if rounding out too early.

• G_error_gain (az_err_gain)
• ADJUST SENSITIVITY FIRST
• Increase if bumps are not smoothed enough; Decrease if ride is too harsh.

• G_err_limit (az_err_limit)
• ADJUST SENSITIVITY FIRST
