I have a complete SV set up with a G430 back up. I have been getting a loud background noise in my headsets recently with the Rx flashing on the com screen and at the top of the SV EFIS screens. When actual radio calls come over the frequency they are clear and the goes away and I can transmit without problem or loss of clarity. I have played with the squelch, volume, on the SV com as well as the G430. I have turned the 430 off and the problem persists.

Sounds like something 'breaking' the squelch, need more info.

Is this happening with engine running or off ?

1. It's not the 430 as you turned it off & found the 'noise' was still there.

2. Turn off one electrical item ie lights & avionics at a time to isolate where the problem is.

3. Did this just recently happen or after some other changes with the aircraft systems ?

To be clear, is this a SkyView COM radio that you're experiencing the receives on (I think it is). How high do you have to turn the SkyView COM radio setting up to cure the issue?

It happens with the engine running and airborne.
It is a SV comm radio and when it's happening I can't cure the problem by turning anything up.  I've manipulated the squelch and volume to full range and minimum settings. The problem persists for 5-10 minutes and may go away for a 10-20 minute period but returns with a vengeance.  This is a fairly recent problem and didn't occur the first 15 hours on the system but I took a trip to S. Cal and it drove me nuts.

Can you email us at support at dynonavionics dot com with answers to the following questions, as well a link to this forum thread and and your original descriptions?

1) What is the SN of your radio? We ideally need the s/n of the the actual transceiver module, which is on its label. The serial number you'll see in SkyView setup is only the control panel's. If that's all you can get without tearing the airplane apart, it's better than nothing
2) What frequencies does this happen on? Does it happen at every frequency?
3) Was this a one-time thing that only happened on your flight to So. Cal or does it now happen all the time?
4) Does it happen on the ground too or only in the air?
5) Does you have an SV intercom?
