Via email from SA yesterday:

We've discovered a problem with the cycle 2401 ChartData that becomes effective this Thursday (January 25). Specifically, while the plates and airport diagrams are properly available, the geo-reference data is missing so you cannot see your position on the plate or diagram and cannot overlay a plate onto the map. We are working diligently to fix the issue and expect the fix to be available before the cycle begins.

Downloads for cycle 2401 have been disabled while we address the problem. If you have already downloaded cycle 2401, please use the following procedure to revert to the currently valid 2313 data cycle:

FlyQ EFB: Uninstall the app from your iPad or iPhone, reinstall from the App Store, and download data again in the normal way. The app will automatically download your aircraft and pilot profiles, flight plans, etc., just like it would if you were to get a new iPad.

Instructions for Dynon, AFS, Aspen, AeroVue, and other systems will be published here shortly.

We apologize for any disruption this might cause.

And nothing on their website home page. Or the "Recent News" area. Only info anywhere on their site is in the Blog.

More stellar support from SA.

UPDATE: RESOLVED Jan 23, 2024, 2:30 PM Pacific: The geo-ref problem has been resolved and downloads for cycle 2401 have been re-enabled. However, if you downloaded 2401 prior to today, you will need to follow the directions below to ensure correct data. We apologize for any disruption this might cause.

...

FlyQ EFB: Uninstall the app from your iPad or iPhone, reinstall from the App Store, and download data again in the normal way. The app will automatically download your aircraft and pilot profiles, flight plans, etc., just like it would if you were to get a new iPad.

Dynon, AFS, Aspen, AeroVue, AV8OR and other systems using the ChartData Manager: Open the Chart Data Manager and select your device. Click Options then Advanced. Click Delete all data downloaded to this PC. Click Delete all data on the memory card/stick. When done, click Close then OK. When back at the main screen, download the 2313 data by clicking Download Now. If you happen to use more than one type of data (e.g. Aspen and Dynon), you’ll need to select each type of data, go back to the Advanced screen, then click the Delete all data on the memory card/stick for each data type and region. Do NOT click Delete all data downloaded to this PC for each data type as it deletes all data from all data types.

I also was lucky enough to get an SA lifetime subscription back when they were still sold, and I got BOTH alert emails. Both the first alerting to the problem and suspension of downloads, and the second one alerting to resolution of the problem.

Note: For reasons way beyond my knowing, I get two notices of each data cycle update. One comes from just "Seattle Avionics". Those emails have the look and feel of a straight out corporate announcement. It did NOT send out any alerts. The other comes from "Flying with Seattle Avionics". Those emails have the look and feel of a blog post by Steve Podradchik. They / it / he sent out BOTH alerts.

I downloaded the 2401 cycle yesterday, Feb 3 and installed today and flew. I still have the problem for some, but not all plates. My home airport (KFDK) is one that is affected.
How did SA mess this up?

I also had the problem on two IFR flights. Spend few hours troubleshooting and just found this thread few minutes ago. Just sent an email to SA asking them to add my email to their notification list....sometimes our experimental GA world is a bit too lax

As compared to the certified world, and something built by a major company like... say... Boeing?

Agreed, I think all companies will have problems, I understand that.

There are some things big companies and small companies can learn from each other.

Contacting customers quickly when there is a problem is a service level I would expect, especially from a smaller company. If there is not a process already in place to notify customers, OK. Let's learn from this issue and put a process in place.

Just thought I would up my earlier post. I fixed my problem after realizing that my Chartdata setting was set to update changed items only. To fix the problem I deleted the Chartdata data files in file explorer and deleted the SA files on the memory sticks, then downloaded the data again and updated the memory sticks. Problem gone.
