I installed most recent version 15.2.0 update on my RV-12 two flights ago with no issues.

UNTIL yesterday while taxiing out. Screen froze and SkyView auto-rebooted five times or more. Before aborting the flight, I decided to remove the USB drive that contained the most current Seattle Avionics databases.

On the next auto-reboot, the SkyView returned to normal, and I flew a 2.5-hour flight to multiple airports with almost every autopilot & MAP features selected. Perfect performance with no issues.

Note: I sent this unit back a few months ago for a circuit board upgrade. Dynon found no repeatable issues with the unit and could not explain the previous screen freeze issues I had on my FIRST flight on the RV-12.

My advice: If you get stuck with a rebooting screen freeze issue, pull the USB flash drive from your unit if it is accessible.

I called Dynon Tech Support yesterday to report this and left a detailed voicemail, but they did not return my call.

Be careful out there, if flying IMC with a SkyView as your sole source for attitude display. I have dual SkyViews with dual ADHARS in my RV-7 and still had a total failure due to screen freeze. I recommend having an independent attitude indicator from a different vendor before flying IFR. Fortunately all of my screen freezes have happened in VMC.

I had the same issue on one screen of my dual screen panel. It would keep cycling through the boot sequence and not boot up. I found that the USB drive connected to that one display was causing the problem. I tried reformatting the drive and re installing all the SA data but the problem continued. So I replaced that one USB drive and after more than 5hrs it has been working fine.
