Could you confirm what i believe to be the way this works???

If I hook up my battery backedup X96 to the serial input on the D100 with an HS-34, if I have a total electrical failure, which, among other things, results in pitot failure. When the HS34 goes offline, will the D100 look to it's own serial port for GPS info to utilize the 5.1 GPS attitude enhancements ????

Are there any setup parameters that would have to be changed during this emergency to allow the D100 serial port to see the X96?

Thank you....

This has been discussed previously, but I don't think we ever got total confirmation.

Dynon says it is supposed to work (provided your D100 is also has battery-backup).

See this page in their Wiki - and please update the page if you have any updates.

That's one bad day in an airplane!

But yes, that is the way it works. It didn't work with the first HS34 release, but with software version 5.0 and newer, you can hook to both the HS34 and EFIS serial port, and it will fail over if the HS34 disappears. All the CDI, AP, and GPS assist functionality will work.

Be sure to verify all of this yourself once it's all installed if this is a failure mode you are worried about being protected against.

That's fabulous - I've updated the Wiki to reflect that that is now confirmed fixed.

Any chance you will ever pass along serial flight plan data to an x96 through the HS34, or do I still need to get back in there and direct wire a serial connection from my GNS 480 to my 496?

I had a avionics shop install a EMS and the HS 34, I have updated the firmware on the EMS but am not sure how to on the HS 34. Can any one help me out?? Should the HS 34 have a serial port cable like the D10A and the EMS???
