Serial Data Pass through on D100?

I have a D100 EFIS that is interfaced with My SL-30. I am using the D100 as my CDI/OBS, so need both Tx & Rx between the D100 and SL-30. However, I would also like to connect my 396 to the SL-30 to get the nearby frequencies sent over, but the SL-30 only has one Tx/Rx pair.

Will the D100 pass the Frequencies that it gets from the 396 (also connected to the D100) to the SL-30 via it's serial connection?

If not, can I bridge the 396 Tx onto the D100 Tx/SL-30 Rx? I know that electrically I can, but concerned with what happens when the message collide from the two Tx devices. Will the error generate a request to re-transmit whatever the D100 sent that was over-written.

You cannot hook two RS-232 transmitters together. They will collide even when not sending data.

The HS34 will allow data to make it from the 396 to the SL-30, but without that there is not a way.

I'm thinking about doing something very similar. I have a D100 that I will be connecting a 496 to. I'm shopping a NAV/COM upgrade and leaning towards the VAL 2000 NAV and COM since they should fit in the available space. They're advertising implies that the two units together act as would an SL-30.

So, if I read the reply correctly, I should also get the HS34 and I'll get max use of the feature set in the EFIS, NAV/COM and GPS.

Also, do you know whether the info from VAL is correct (that the units work with the D100 the same way the SL-30 does?)

I could easily be talked into the SL-30, but hunting one down isn't seeming all that easy which is how I stumbled on the VALs

Thanks.

When we implemented Val radio support with SkyView, we literally cloned the SL-30 setting and gave it a new name. So it should work with the D100 just like an SL30 does. But it hasn't been tested that we know of.

Thanks. Should I continue with the VAL option I will provide updates.

But also, based on this thread, I will put the HS34 in the configuration.
