My panel includes D180, HS34, Garmin 496, AP7x (later...), etc.

Serial input to the SL30 RxD seems to require connection to the Garmin 496 for frquency control of the SL30, and also to the HS34.  Only one can be connected.  If the HS34 passes through the frequency selection I am good to go with HS34 -> SL30.  Otherwise what will I loose if I do not connect HS34 -> SL30?

Similarly, the HS34 and the transponder (for traffic information) need to send to the Garmin 496. What info does the HS34 send to the GPS, and what will be lost if this is not connected?

The HS34 passes data from your GPS to the SL-30.

We don't send anything to a portable GPS like an X96 so you don't need to hook the HS34 to it.
