Servo engages when powered up

Single screen Skyview system without the dedicated auto-pilot module. when applying power to the servos, the pitch servo will engage for 5-10 seconds and then disengage. doesnt matter if the system is booted up or not. Happens any time power is applied. Aircraft was purchased with inop autopilot and was not wired correctly to the network (both twisted pairs never hooked up). AP now working properly with no inflight problems. Just have this powering up quirk to contend with. Any ideas as to what the problem is and what to do?

That's really odd. Does the AP status area show that its engaged, or is it just the actuation of the servos themselves? Any chance you can take a video of what the screen is doing and email it to our support team? What mode does it engage in? If you had a stuck or always grounded disconnect switch, you might get some odd behavior. But I wouldn't expect that that AP would work normally.

Is there an external relay in the push-to-engage circuit? That could cause an odd behavior as it powers on.

If you don't have the most recent versions of SkyView firmware, we suggest updating.

SkyView now includes diagnostics for stuck (or incorrectly installed - wrong type) pushbuttons for the Servo Disconnect and External LEVEL button inputs that will show an error message if those inputs are grounded when the SkyView display boots up.

This can also happen if you have multiple SkyView displays and you followed our initial (incorrect) advice and wired the External LEVEL Button inputs of both displays in parallel. See Considerations for External LEVEL Button and External GO AROUND Button in SkyView Systems with Multiple SkyView Displays on Page 10-13 in Revision W of the SkyView System Installation Guide.

The autopilot status on screen does not show the servo to be engaged. It is only the pitch servo that has this issue. Have upgraded the system to the latest firmware when the original auto pilot problems were solved. Aircraft was purchased from the builder that did not have the servos properly wired to the network. It is not equipped with the remote level switch. Have flown serveral hours now with no issues or quirks to the operation of the autopilot except for this brief engagement at power-up.
