I now have an all electric airplane, with has a backup battery which will be crucial to safe flight if the primary system should fail.  I would like to display the back-up battery's voltage using the INFO feature, as shown in the D180 pilot's Guide on page 5-11.

However, it has been recommended that the Keep Alive feature be disconnected.  Previously I had the Keep Alive hooked to my my back-up battery, but pulled it's fuse when I saw the recommendation.

What would be the consequences of reinstalling the fuse and keeping the Keep Alive circuit intact?  Any recommendations?

Thanks.

Draining the aircraft battery and having the unit look like it was "broken" (until all power is cycled, including the internal battery and keep alive line) were the two problems that we've had historically. Through the past few firmware updates we fixed almost everyone, but we've gotten an report or two from people that are still experiencing the issue. Because the time and the power off battery charging are the only things keep alive is used for (and now the clock is set by a connected GPS every flight), we decided to recommend that people no longer connect KA.
