I have configured my skyview's rs232 output to a EI FP-5L's fuel computer single line input. The fuel computer says that its receiving a data stream but information is missing. The EI uses a basis names message. Can you assist, to make sure the message output would be correct for 1stop, 8 bit. Additional, I used a single skyview 232 output to the fuel computer. Should any grounds by grounded on the 232 output line?
Thank you
Larry :-/

Larry,
What kind of data is the EI expecting? RS-232 also needs a protocol type like "NMEA" or "AVIATION".

I believe the Fp-5L is NMEA only. But I could be wrong. Rs232 in from EI is 1 start, 8 data, 1 stop, and I selected 9600 baud rate. I don't see anywhere in the sky view manual that states a start bit, but I'm assuming it's there. Maybe dynon can clarify. It should communicate on this standard 232 line. Dynon can you expound why this protocol will not work. Always learning. Thanks Larry

Dynon's output is N-8-1, so that shouldn't be the issue.

Unless we know what exact data the computer is expecting, it's hard for us to know. There are "sentences" in NMEA and you don't have to send them all out. 99.99% of our customers use the built-in fuel computers in our products, so we don't have any experience with hooking to the FP-5L.
