Fellow pilots,
Some years ago I created an app in Android that displayed EMS parameters, and at that time it required a Serial to Bluetooth adapter. Since a few years back Dynon now transmits this information through their Wifi module. I am resurrecting this app and making it better. I need some volunteers to use this app in your plane, no strings attached just an honest Pirep. As a thanks you will get the App and subsequent releases. Note that this app does not require any special hardware just the Dynon SkyView Wifi module. It is ONLY supported on Android phones and Tablets (NO IPad!). This new version will support different engine configurations and metric/US units etc. A prerelease is already in working order, however I want to nail the details and support as many of you as possible.

The logic behind offering this is:
SkyView Assist EMS (™) is an Android application that works with a Dynon SkyView to display engine instrument readings on a tablet or phone. This allows “turning off” the EMS portion of the SkyView screen to provide considerably more room for the PFD and/or Map pages.
The primary driver behind the development of SkyView Assist EMS (™) is the relatively small size of the Dynon SkyView screen considering the wealth of information available to be displayed on it.
A normal configuration for a single-screen system uses 40% for the PFD, 40% for the Map, and 20% for the EMS (engine monitoring system) pages. In theory this works fairly well but in practice the 40% map page is sorely overloaded. After subtracting the unusable screen “real estate” used for the Top Bar, Map Info Items, the ADS-B status items, and the always-present north arrow, considerably less than 40% remains. It’s not much larger than a 3X5 inches; try to imagine reading a VFR or IFR chart through a window the size of an index card.
However, if the EMS page could be eliminated, the PFD and Map pages expand to 50%. This is a greater improvement than one might expect because the unusable screen “real estate” is a fixed amount but the usable area (usable for displaying map/chart info) increases greatly percentage-wise.
