skyview cooling fans

Was just playing with the skyview at home hooked up to a 12 volt battery. The fans never kicked on even though the unit was fairly hot. It is about 70F in my house. Do the fans kick on at certain temp---or on all of the time?

i have not seen mine turn on yet... about 6 hours of run time messing with it in the plane...

They kick on at a certain temp, which is pretty hot to the touch. In a normal 70 degree environment, they probably wouldn't come on for the first hour, and then would only run for a minute or so. The hardware will actually perform fine up to 50 degrees C without the fans at all, and only one is ever needed, so they are really there just for extreme situations.

They do spin for about 1 second at power on if you ever want to just see them do it.
