I just noticed that there is "another" firmware release on the Dynon website. Does this fix any issues from the v 16.0.1?

Doesn't look like it.

Added: Support for 4 cylinder UL Power engines via SV-EMS-221 CANBUS connectivity. Added: Support for upcoming Airmate aviation data. Fixed: Scrolling in VP-X and ACM window. Fixed: Engine monitor would sometimes boot to a "red X" display when used with UL Power engines connected via SV-EMS-221 CANBUS. Fixed: TRIM FEEDBACK STUCK will no longer display if a SV-AP-TRIMAMP is not installed.​

So if I have an older UL 4 cylinder engine without the CANBUS and don't have a VPX then is there any reason to install this update?

Is it possible for me to re-install the last version 15 release after having installed version 16, or will that make it unstable?

It's not generally supported - and can't be done by just trying to load it. But get in touch with our support team (contact information in signature) - they can help you with options.
