Approximately every other start, the Skyview will not turn on. I thought it was due to voltage drop as I didn't have a backup battery installed. I purchased and installed the backup battery and have maybe 20 starts since but it still does the same thing. You can not even manually turn it on, you have to pull the breaker and wait several seconds before pushing the breaker back in. Any thoughts as to what could be causing?? thx Tom

My Skview does the same thing. I have it wired though its own switch an at times I have to recycle the switch to get it to come on. I must be missing something somewhere. Not a big deal, however. Ron

One of my two 10" screens did something similar. It would hang at random stages of boot up. Had everything from blank screen to multi-coloured stripes. Dynon changed it for a new one and thats ok on the same wiring and supply volts.

Mine does the same thing, every so often one of the two 10" monitors will go black just before the final screen comes up. I can hear it running but no picture. Today I left my system on for about 45 minutes and then started hearing some clicking sounds. One of my monitors was kinda flickering. I pressed on it's main harness and it stopped. what bothered me about that is that the harness was tight in the socket, could it be the L-Com filters causing these issues?

Started up the panels again this morning and this time the left panel wouldn't boot up until I turned off the master power and restarted. I could hear the panel running but no picture.
Dynon support, what do you think is causing this?

Since installing the EMI filters yesterday, my 7" screen will not boot up from A/C main bus power. It ALWAYS stops at the Dynon splash screen. If I start it from the backup battery it boots normally. I can then add main bus power and it works fine from there.

The other screen boots up normally. Both have all three filters and have only failed to boot on very rare occasions before installing the filters. The system has about 15 hours of flight time now.

Support, what is going on here?

perhaps you might check to make sure that the studs on the filters are tightened down all the way so that you get good contact with the pins at the connection...

Tom - What happens when you use ships power, and then, once it's stopped booting, you reboot it by pressing buttons 1,2,5 simultaneously. Does that bring it up?

I wasn't aware of the 1, 2, 5 reboot, I'll try that as soon as I get it back together. Got the EGT probe---thank you.
FYI, it's glitching on low voltage. If I use the breaker as a switch--leave it off till after startup, it always boots fine. I thought adding the backup battery would cancel out the voltage drop issue. I wonder what it would do if I started the Skyview first and let it finish booting up before I start the plane, may try that also. Worst case--I'll just put a switch on the power lead.

I tried the 1,2,5 sequence many times and it does the same as just flipping on ship's power (hangs at Dynon splash screen).

The only way now to start that screen is by battery power and then ship's power after it boots.

Support,

Flybuddy got me thinking. How many volts are needed on main bus for a guaranteed good boot?

Next time that I am at the hangar I'll check bus voltage while booting.

10V is the spec, so do definitely check that.

Also though: Do you happen to have a USB drive plugged in to the USB cable that is on the D37 by chance? (w/ the filter installation you'll need to use one of the two USB ports on the back of the unit instead.)

Does the splash sceeen show an error at the top?

There is no USB drive on the D37. The new 3' cable is plugged in to one of the backside USB ports. No drive on it either.

I saw a black box at the top of the splash screen, but it looked like it was empty. I will look again.

After several more flights I've figured out that if you let it get past the point that you see "Dynon" on the screen, it will boot up normally. If I flick the master on and immediately hit the starter is where it has boot up problems.
