two questions, 1) hooking up the Nav serial connection from SL30 to SV, both the SL30 and SV instructions require to use a common grd, from pin 3 on the 37 pin SL30, where does this go? To a SV pin? Or to airframe grd buss? 2) Second question, SV pins 13 30 31, where do these orginate from a PS engineering 5000EX audio panel?

Connect the SL30 ground to any of SkyView's available ground wires on the D37 harness.

At the moment, the audio outputs should not be connected, as they're not supported. But in the future, they can be connected to an audio input of your choice on your audio panel or intercom (typically an unswitched input, so that alarms aren't silenced or muted)

thx, ok I understand the answer to the second question but am confused now about the ground pin outs on the SV DB37. Pins 21,22,23,24 and 30 indicate ground on the DB37 electrical connection chart. I have hooked up pin 24 to the GPS and 23 goes to the b/u battery I sent the rest (21,22 and 30) to the airframe ground buss. Are you saying that all three of these do not have to go to ground buss? If so, which ones have to go to ground buss and which one(s) should be used for a common ground conection for another piece of equipment? I would think that there are at least two ground connections per SV (I have two) for redundancy.

The main ground wires are the 21/22 pair. Those should definitely be grounded. Beyond that, the other wires are available to use for other devices that connect to SkyView need a ground path. If you're not using some of the other ground wires, they don't need to be grounded. But it doesn't hurt, on the other hand, either. There's a diagram on page 17-7 of the current (rev I) manual that shows the wiring in a typical installation.
