Sl-30 Localizer course setting

The SL-30 in my HS-34/D-100 system (firmware 4.0) works fine with one exception that I have found so far. I think I read this somewhere else but cannot find the post.

When tuned to a localizer frequency, the course knob will not rotate the course line. I have to go to a VOR freq, set the localizer course with the course knob, and then go back to the localizer freq to fly the approach.

FYI my SL-30 is set to resolver for an MD-200 indicator and communicates with the GX-65 via serial lines in such a way that I cannot use the HS-34 course selector knob. I have to use the course knob on my MD-200 to set nav courses on the D-100 HSI. I don't believe this is the cause of the localizer setting problem I am experiencing because it works fine for VOR radials. Also, I thought the prior post I read on this matter claimed the same problem with a different setup.

Is there anything I can do to resolve this and if not, are you working on a fix for it?

Not sure but I think this is a function of the SL-30 where it does not allow the course setting while a loc frequency is active.

That is correct- the SL30 doesn't allow the course line to be updated while on an ILS. This is a restriction of the SL30, not us.

Our workaround is that when on an ILS, you should be able to set the course using the HS34's knob. Please try this- tune an ILS, then turn the actual course knob on the HS34. It should move the course line on the screen. Once you tune back to a VOR, it should update to the setting of the SL30 (which is coming from the NAV head).
